Just after 3 a.m. Conroe Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on Gladiola just off FM 1314 and Avenue M Extension. Moments later they arrived to find a home totally involved in flames.
Ten people occupied the home with the youngest being ages 1 and two. A family member woke up and saw smoke and fire in one side of the home that nobody was staying in at the moment. All residents were able to evacuate.
Firefighters had a challenge on their hands with the blaze. Besides the hose burning, two vehicles behind the home were burning as were a power pole and tree. Power lines had dropped onto the cyclone fence separating the home from a neighbor charging that fence with electricity. The home was originally a single wide mobile home several years ago. An addition was built onto it and the front was bricked over.
There were no injuries and the Red Cross was notified to assist the residents.
Conroe Fire Marshal’s are investigating the cause of the blaze.
