hickey, scott_michael On April 13, 2009 Scott Michael Hickey was driving eastbound on SH 242 when he veered off the roadway at Glen Eagle Drive and struck a traffic pole in his Grand Prix. He or his passenger Cameron Justin Rea, age 18, were wearing seatbelts. Both had been high school buddies at Oak Ridge

Hickey was transported from the scene to Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands. Rea was flown by air medical to Hermann Hospital in Houston. However, after the helicopter lifted Rea’s condition worsened and the helicopter diverted to Hermann in the Woodlands where he was pronounced dead at 4:40a.m. just one hour after the crash.

Last week Hickey plead guilty to intoxicated manslaughter. Monday morning Judge Lisa Michalk sentenced him to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Assistant District Attorney Andrew James who is assigned to the District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
