Just before 5 p.m. MCHD and New Caney Fire Department were dispatched to a reported drowning. The caller told 911 operators the child had been under the water at least fifteen minutes. Emergency Responders arrived at the home on Northcrest Circle near Northcrest Blvd. just off SH 242 in the Northcrest Subdivision.
When they arrived family members were performing CPR. Crews took over CPR and attempted to raise the baby’s core temperature. The water was reported to be in the low 60-degree temperature range.
After working on the child for close to thirty minutes in an attempt to stabilize him, he was transported by MCHD to Kingwood Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 8 p.m.
The property the home is in a subdivision with each lot having one to two acres. The pool in the backyard was a large pool with several visual obstacles around it including a waterfall.
According to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Detective Kenneth Bivens, the family had been in the yard and were preparing to go to baseball practice. The child had also been in the large backyard riding on a toy tractor. The family no longer saw him outside and went inside to continue the search. Once again unable to locate him they went back outside and that is when they spotted him on the pool bottom with the toy tractor.
The investigation is continuing. No names have been released yet.
