A Flash Flood Watch continues for Matagorda, Brazoria, Galveston, Chambers, and portions of southern Harris and Liberty counties through noon Tuesday. Flash flooding will be likely over yesterday’s hard hit areas, especially over Galveston, Chambers and Liberty counties.
A band of showers and thunderstorms is continuing to push westward this morning across the northern Gulf of Mexico. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rainfall can be anticipated with these showers and thunderstorms as they push onshore. Already saturated soils from yesterday’s rainfall will make this region within the Flash Flood Watch once again susceptible to flash flooding. Primary impacts will likely be street flooding and inundation of low water crossings.
Tropical Storm Gordon is continuing to move west northwest at 17 mph this morning, with a projected path still aimed for Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Mississippi. No impacts are expected over Southeast Texas at this time.
