65 Years For Habitual Felon

On June 18, 2014 a Montgomery County jury convicted Leon Tony Parker, Jr. of Burglary of a Habitation that was committed in Conroe, Texas on October 7, 2013. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Amanda Petroff and Mary Nan Huffman. During the middle of the day while the victim was at work, Parker and another suspect, Steve Risher, kicked in the door of the victim’s home and stole items including a television, guns, and several hundred dollars in cash.

The burglary was interrupted by two Conroe Police Department officers and both suspects fled on foot. Parker was captured nearby after a lengthy foot pursuit and arrested for Burglary of a Habitation. Parker’s DNA was located on gloves left at the crime scene.

During the punishment phase of the trial, Petroff presented Parker’s long criminal history, including Thefts, Evading Arrest, Burglary of Vehicle, Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Felon in Possession of Firearm, and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. In addition, Petroff presented evidence of Parker’s membership in the Bloods criminal street gang. As a habitual criminal offender, Parker faced 25 years up to 99 years or life in prison. 221st District Court Presiding Judge James Keeshan sentenced Parker to 65 years in prison.

“Another Habitual Felon is off the streets of Montgomery County,” stated District Attorney Brett Ligon. “The more we eliminate these serial offenders from our community, the safer we all are. The police did a great job, the jury did a great job, the judge did a great job and thanks to their efforts, Mr. Parker is back in prison where he belongs.”

Suspect Steve Risher has not been captured, any information on his whereabouts should be reported to Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP.
