As people are arrested a bond is set in most cases. By posting a bond you are promising to appear on your court date. There are several bonding companies in the Conroe area who assist persons arrested in gaining freedom. Many times to bond out on a charge the person arrested would have to pay a bonding company ten-percent or more of the bond amount.
If a court date is missed and the person vanishes the bonding company is responsible for the full amount of the bond which then has to be paid to the county.
In July 2012, John Allen Merritt was one of those arrested. In the middle of a divorce a protective order was put in place to keep him away from his wife who was threatened. Merritt violated that protective order twice and was arrested. He then had Daisy Bail Bonds make a bond for him to be released. He then vanished.
The judge in the case has issued a order of arrest for Merritt.
The bonding company, if he is not found will be responsible for the full amount of his bond.
