Just after 2 am Jacinto City Police attempted to stop a white Cadillac. The vehicle fled. HPS assisted in what turned out to be an extensive chase. At 2:19 am Houston Police joined in along with an HPD helicopter. The vehicle went to the South Houston area then headed back north. The chase continued into Montgomery County. Montgomery County then assisted in the pursuit which was at speeds mostly near 70 mph. A DPS Trooper joined in at FM 1488 and attempted a pit maneuver. The vehicle continued to the Crighton ROad exit, made a U-turn under the freeway and sped south. At West Road, the Hispanic driver threw something out of the vehicle but kept going across West Mount Houston where a crash that had the freeway closed cleared moments earlier. The chase went through downtown Houston but was called off by HPD Commanders as the vehicle approached which had been a construction zone at I-45 and the South Loop which had resulted in a total closure. Once again the construction had just cleared and the vehicle sped through. Exiting Belfort the vehicle continued through the intersection and then began a northbound trek. Even though HPD called the chase off DPS continued. An HPD helicopter and K-9 unit were allowed to shadow the vehicle. Finally, at the Loop and Broadway, the driver exited and started through the streets f Houston. Harrisburg and Canal area. CLose to 75th and Canal the vehicle pulled into a private residence and was immediately arrested by DPS at 3:54 a.m.
