EARLY MORNING FIRE CONSUMES HOME

Needham Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2700 block of South Woodloch at 5:45 a.m. this morning. As they pulled up fire erupted through the roof. They were able to fight it for a short time before the structure started collapsing at which point for safety concerns they went into a “defensive mode”, fighting the fire from the outside.  River Plantation and Caney Creek Fire Departments were also called in to help battle the flames in the 21-degree weather.

Nobody was in the home at the time, a neighbor said they left last night. There were no injuries.

This was the second major fire Needham and River Plantation Fire Departments responded to. Just three hours earlier they returned from assisting South Montgomery County Fire Department on the Ag Barn of the College Park and The Woodlands High School in which 17 show pigs were killed.
