SPLENDORA MAN LIFE FLIGHTED AFTER STRUCK BY TRAIN

Just after 5 a.m. this morning a southbound Union Pacific train spotted a white male sitting along the railroad tracks just north of FM 2090. With the train moving at close to 50 mph it was unable to stop and continued braking until he almost reached the intersection of Ipes Road.

When the first officers arrived on the scene they they found the 37-year-old male with an amputation to the leg below the knee to the left leg and severely injured right leg and ankle. The male was still partially conscious.

MCHD responded to the scene and requested Life Flight which landed in the Archie’s Supermarket parking lot. The male was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston in critical condition.

Splendora Police are continuing the investigation. They were assisted by Patton Village, DPS, Roman Forest and Woodbranch Police.

The name is being with-held pending notification of family.
