SPLENDORA BUSINESSMAN CRITICALLY INJURED

Just  before 3:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Splendora businessman Joe Aldridge, owner of Lone Star Air Conditioning and Heating was seriously injured. Aldridge was in his shop on US 59 just north of FM 2090 and was unloading a heater from his pickup. Just as it was about to come out Aldridge slipped and fell to the floor. The heater unit, weighing over 100 pounds fell on top of him.

Splendora Fire Department and medics with the Montgomery County Hospital District responded to the scene and PHI Air Medical was put on standby. When medics arrived on the scene, Aldridge was alert and conscious as the medics evaluated him. He was determined to be stable and PHI Air Medical was cancelled. However, within minutes Aldridge started having difficulty breathing and was in and out of consciousness.

Splendora Fire Department dispatched a second truck to close the southbound US 59 feeder and PHI was once again dispatched.

Aldridge was been flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. As of Thursday, Aldridge was listed in stable condition, according to his wife Rachel, and is expected to make a full recovery.
