Early this afternoon Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department SIU swooped down on a large hydroponic marijuana grow operation on FM 1488 at the Waller/ Montgomery County line. They arrested Danielle Hagler, 30, of Spring, John Daniel, 34 of Plantersville and John Vinson, 36 of Magnolia. All three are being booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Possession of Marijuana charges, in addition to Engaging in Organized Crime.
The mobile home which sat on several acres was surrounded by hundreds of tree saplings which had an irrigation system connected to each. A pond behind the mobile home had a large pump to supply the water. The appearance of being a tree farm. But once inside it was a different story. The entire fourteen by sixty mobile home contained 238 marijuana plants and a very elaborate lighting system complete with a watering system. Lights and umbrellas hung in every room.
Centerpoint energy was called out to disconnect the underground power to the home when a disconnect could not be located. Centerpoint found it almost 200 yards from the home on a large commercial panel along FM 1488. According to Centerpoint records the average usage for the home was 9,500 kwh per month. An average large home uses 3000 per month.
SIU Deputies were assisted by Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constables Office and Grimes County Precinct 3 and 4 Constable Ann Weaks. Montgomery County Auto Theft and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
According to Montgomery County SIU Lt.Phillip Cash Mexican marijuana goes for about $400 a pound here in Montgomery County. However, the hydroponic marijuana, which is popular among high school and college students go for almost $5,500 a pound. When matured, which many of the plants were they yield almost a pound each.
