BURGLAR TURNS INVISIBLE AFTER PURSUIT

Shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen on North Park Drive. The caller told dispatchers a man was standing on top of his truck at the  Best Auto Repair shop at Russell Palmer and North Park. The witness then observed the suspect got through the gate in the rear of the building and steal a trailer loaded with equipment, and generators. A DPS trooper was very close to the scene as it dispatched as was a Precinct 4 deputy constable. As the trooper approached the scene he witnessed a Ford Explorer behind the Church’s Chicken with a trailer. As he turned around the vehicle sped off without the trailer. Trooper Eric Lopez, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Jackson, Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputy Constables Rivera and Turrentine attempted to stop the vehicle which had tape across the rear license plate. The vehicle continued west on North Park at a high rate of speed. As the Explorer reached Loop 494 the driver lost control flipping the vehicle at least four times.

Officials believe the driver was ejected from the vehicle as he was not seen running from it and it was believed he was under it. Porter Fire Department and MCHD were dispatched to the scene along with Houston Fire Department but the driver was not in or under the vehicle, Fire crews and law enforcement fanned out and started a search of the area but nothing was found. After viewing the dash cams, again the driver was not seen running from the vehicle or being ejected.

A perimeter was set up between North park and Kings Manor, Kings Mill, and Park at Kings Manor. Montgomery County Precinct 4 responded with a tracking dog but the suspect was not found. The area of the search was both wooded, high grasses and several ditches.

The suspect is a white male, bald headed and wearing blue jeans. Officials believe he may have some injuries from the crash.

Eastbound North Park was closed for almost three hours as the search continued.
