Amber Alert Issued for Abducted 8-month-old

An Amber Alert has been issued for a child who was abducted when thieves stole a vehicle from the parking lot of a Texaco gas station on North Sam Houston Parkway.

The mom told police she left the child in the car while she went into the station to pay for gas. While she was in the store, she looked outside and saw her car being driven away.

A short time later, police found the car abandoned close to Greens Parkway.

The baby and her car seat were missing along with the vehicle’s plates. Items from the car were found in a nearby grassy area.

HPD K-9 officers and a helicopter unit are assisting in the search.

The child, 8-month-old Genesis Haley is described as a black female with a light complexion and sandy brown hair. She was last seen wearing white pants, a white t-shirt and 4 barrettes in her hair.

Anyone with information about the child, vehicle or suspect is asked to immediately call the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600.

I also have my sympathy for a so called mother to leave a child asleep in a running car as she goes in to a gas station. I mean its 1 something in the morning and you have to get what from the store? I mean this area is Gunspoint known for alot of criminal activity. I know…i work in the area. Its a h e l l hole in places.
But Im glad the baby was ok. And no charges to the mother. That I dont agree with. She put the child in harms way.
    Steps off soap box.
