Late Sunday night, January 16, 2011, just before 10:30 PM, the Texaco Gas Station Convenience Store located at 28677 I-45 North in Shenandoah, was robbed by two armed men. Just after 3:00 PM on Monday, the Shell Gas Station Convenience Store at Many Pines and Woodlands Parkway in The Woodlands was robbed by the same set of suspects. A subsequent robbery of the Exxon station located at 710 Sawdust Road, by one of the criminal duo at 8:30 Monday morning lead to the arrest of a suspect Justin James Washington, 24, of Spring.
Shenandoah Police arrested the second suspect, Justino Emmanuel Benitez, 22, of Spring, yesterday afternoon at a convenience store on Valleywood. Benitez was located and indentified by Shenandoah’s Detective with the close assistance from members within the community where Benitez lived. Benitez confessed to his participation with Washington of robbing the Texaco in Shenandoah and Shell on Woodlands Parkway.
Shenandoah Chief of Police Chancellor commented that the arrest of the second suspect clearing two aggravated robberies was another example of how essential it is for communities and law enforcement working jointly. “These mutual endeavors between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve increases the successfulness of enjoying a safer lifestyle for us all.”
