ARMED ROBBERY AT WALGREENS – UPDATE

 

On Thursday, July 28, 2016 around 3:15 p.m. Cleveland Police Dispatch received a call in reference to a subject armed with a handgun had just robbed the local Walgreens Store located at 101 S. Washington Ave..

Upon C.P.D. officer’s arrival they learned that a black male entered the store and walked around until all customers cleared the front check-out area. The subject then walked up to the front cashier counter and requested to make a purchase of cigarettes. The clerk asked for the subjects ID, and the subject failed to display his Id. The subject quickly handed the clerk a candy bar from a nearby display rack, and paid for it, but before the clerk could closed the cash drawer the subject raised his shirt displaying a firearm in the waistband of his pants. The subject told the clerk to “give him all the money inside the register”, and the clerk complied by handing over all the money in the drawer. The subject told the clerk to “not call anyone, or he would start shooting up the place”. The clerk was unharmed and the subject fled outside the front door on feet in an unknown direction. It is unknown if the subject ever entered a vehicle.

C. P. D. Investigators are working with Walgreen Store management in hopes of viewing the in-store video footage of the subject. The subject kept putting his hands over the lower part of his face as he walked around the store. The subject is described as a black male, around 20-25 years of age, tall slender build 6’0” to 6’2” inches tall, approximately 165-170 lbs.. The subject was dress fairly neat wearing a light tan color Fedora style hat on his head, a light lavender color long sleeve men’s dress shirt, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.
