Arrest in Bedias Dollar General Robbery

On the date of Friday, January 13th 2017 at 10:41 PM, Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Dollar General Store located in the 22000 Block of State Highway 90 in Bedias, Texas regarding a report of an aggravated robbery.

Deputies met with two female clerks at the above business who advised that they were robbed at gunpoint by a black male subject wearing dark clothing and a bandanna around his face when closing and exiting the store. It was indicated that the subject had forcefully took both victims’ purses during this commission of this incident.

Investigators received an anonymous tip through the Grimes County Crime Stoppers Program of a suspect involved in this robbery. This lead to further investigation and corroboration of this anonymous tip through witnesses, along with positive identification of the suspect by the victims of this case.

In the early morning hours of Friday, March 17th 2017, Dante Dewayne Owens, 18 VOA of Bedias was arrested in San Antonio, Texas by the San Antonio Police Department without incident after checking into the hospital following a minor traffic accident.

On the date of Wednesday, April 5th 2017, Owens was transported to the Grimes County Jail where he is currently being held on criminal charges stemming from warrants of two counts of Aggravated Robbery which is a Felony 1st Degree and is punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison with a fine not to exceed $10,000.00 with bonds currently set $20,000 per charge.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all citizens for their assistance in this case, along with the Grimes County Crime Stoppers Program, which played an integrate role in solving this case and leading to an arrest.
