Two people were killed and over a dozen were injured in a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County on Tuesday, according to area hospital officials.
A suspect is in custody, according to the Uvalde Police Department. However other agencies are reporting that he is in custody.
It was not immediately clear whether any students had been killed in the shooting. Uvalde Memorial Hospital has not confirmed who the victims are but said it is providing care for several students. One child and one adult were also transported to University Health in San Antonio earlier. The condition of the patients at both hospitals was not available.
Robb Elementary students were transported to the city’s civic center, and parents have been asked to pick up their students.
The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District had placed all campuses under lockdown earlier in the day after gunshots were fired in the area.
The Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office and a Uvalde Police Department dispatcher said they could not share other details about the nature of the shooting at this time.
