Saturday evening started out with everyone looking to0 the skies watching the circling aircraft but soon turned to the fun and food. Saturday night was catfish night and teams competed for the best tasting catfish.
As the parking lots filled more parking was opened near the back but one person decided to make some quick cash when Precinct 4 deputies were notified a man was in the parking lot charging for parking. Parking at the EMC Fair was free.
Boots of everything you can imagine is there including one selling marshmallow guns. Amusement rides were a big hit but not as big as the action in the rodeo ring. Cowboy after cowboy taking his turn at the calf roping and then continuing to the bronc riding.
But even though running late the biggest event of the night filled the stands and the rails with people waiting to see the youngsters and the calf scramble. The scramble stated with fierce competition. The kids doing just about anything to get their calf. Several getting run over by the calf just to get up and keep going. Once they had one it didn’t matter what position, how much dirt they were eating, or how much of the calf was on top of them.
It was amazing the way it went from the fierce competition in the start to near the end when some of the kids realized the calves were all claimed. Those kids moved in to assist their team mates in getting the calf they were wrestling back to the box.
The fair continues through September 18.
