At 4:33 am Conroe Police arrived and moments later Mitch Wilkin’s the owner and his mother and father arrived.
What they found they were not able to believe. The front glass door had been broken out. Inside the heavy glass tops of the three of the cases were broken out. Much of the jewelry, a lot of it antique jewelry was gone. Also gone were several watches valued from $175 to almost $1000. What wasn’t taken was damaged or scratched. Conroe Police immediately started searching the area. They were not able to locate any suspects but they did find a trail of sort down Wilson Road toward the freeway made up of jewelry and watch boxes.
As Mitch Wilkin’s removed large pieces of glass from the cases his father, using a small brush removed what little jewelry there was left. He brushed each item off and at times would help his son with removing the glass. At the same time, his mother spent her time sweeping glass off the front sidewalk and just inside the front door of the store.
