This afternoon around 5:15 PM, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home in the 5700 block of Pinehurst just west of Conroe involving a 4 year-old boy that had been bitten by a pit bull.
When deputies arrived they found that the child had serious injuries and was going to be taken by helicopter to a Houston Hospital. Investigators with the Major Crimes Unit learned that the child had climbed a chain link fence into a neighbor’s yard and though the dog was chained was attacked and bitten by the dog. The victim’s 9 year old sister pulled the boy to safety and called for help.
The victim did not survive the injuries and died at the hospital. Animal Control officers came to the scene and took custody of the dog.
The investigation is on-going as investigators complete interviews and examines evidence. Criminal charges are not anticipated.
