boy scout camp thief arrested

WALLACE,JACOBIn the early morning hours of October 12 Game Warden Brannon Meinkowsky  was brought out of a sleep with messages coming across his phone. Meinkowsky realized they weren’t messages but multiple photos from a remote game camera he had set up inside the Camp Strake Boy Scout Camp.

Boy Scout officials had reported to Meinkowsky that they were losing fuel from their storage tanks at an unusually high rate. This fuel was there to be used for small engines, mowers and vehicles working on the property.  In addition items such as boats were also stolen.

The photos Meinkowsky was receiving every minute showed a man pull up to the fuel pump and start pumping gas into his truck. Knowing he could not reach the Boy Scout Camp quickly he contacted Conroe Police.

Conroe Police stopped Jacob Wallace, 23, of 963 Doire in Conroe within minutes on Interstate 45 feeder.

He was arrested for tampering with evidence after it was determined the other stolen items had been listed on Craig’s List but were deleted through his cell phone when officers asked to see it.

He is also charged with Misdemeanor Class B Theft,

Wallace posted a cash bond and retained Erik A. Nelson to represent him on his December 12 court appearance.
