Around 6:30 p.m., the Central Montgomery County Fire Department responded to a swift water rescue call in the back of Magnolia Bend Subdivision, on the San Jacinto River.

An 18-year-old couple was swimming in the river when the current suddenly became swift. The teens attempted to get out of the water. Although she struggled, the female was able to make it to the shore. She told authorities she saw her boyfriend go under the water and then come back up, before going under again and disappearing.

Crews have been searching for the teen with the assistance of a DPS helicopter, but there has been no sign of him.

Operations have been canceled for the night and will resume in the morning.

Additional details and video will be posted soon.
