buck does well after surgery

“Buck”, the dog found shot in the face and left for dead in a trash bag is doing better every day. Tuesday Dr. William Drow with the Ponderosa Animal Hospital performed yet another surgery on Buck. This was to look at a tooth that was thought to be compromised by the shooting. Once Dr. Drow got into it he discovered the tooth may have been damaged previous and seemed to be still sound and not bothering Buck. In addition he was able to recover many birdshot pellets from Buck but counted an additional 91 which will remain. The pellets removed were close to the surface and did not involved cutting into the tissue. Also while looking at the tooth he discovered a hole in the gum line which had no pellet but was open to the bone. There was some concern for infection and needed to be watched as it healed.

In the mean time Tim Holifield, Montgomery County Animal Cruelty Officer is still following several leads to find the person responsible for this act of cruelty. Several leads have come in and people interviewed including one in southwest Houston. None of these leads have created anything solid. Many have just turned out to be hearsay.
