Burn Victim Succumbs to Injuries from Early Morning Fire in NE Montgomery County

38 Year old male was found suffering severe burns to his upper body after Montgomery County Firefighters were called to a fire on Oliver Lane Saturday morning.
North Montgomery County Firefighters were first called to reports of a building on fire on Oliver Lane in the Security Community just after midnight early Saturday morning. When they arrived they found a large building fully involved in fire and a male resident, 38-year-old Phillip Colburn, suffering from 2nd and 3rd degree burns to approximately 70 % of his body.

While crews worked to extinguish the fire before it could reach a nearby home, Paramedics and EMTs stabilized the victim before transferring him to a PHI Medical Helicopter for transport to a burn center in the Houston Medical Center, where he passed away this afternoon.

Investigators from the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to the victim’s death. An autopsy will be conducted in Harris County to determine the cause of death and at this time there are no further details to release on the investigation.
