CAPTAIN WHO SURVIVED DEADLY FIRE HONORED

captain who survived houston’s deadliest fire honoredHouston Fire Department Captain Bill Dowling who survived Houston’s deadliest fire on May 31, 2013 was given an award at his home Saturday morning. Kathy Huynh, who is with Liberty Mutual Insurance presented the award. The award which was started in 1986 was designed to show the companies community involvement with firefighters.

Dowling will now go before a national committee of firefighters around the United States. If he were selected by that committee he and his family would win a trip to Disney World and $10,000 for his station.

Dowlings wife Jackie stood at his side as he received the award. She said she thinks it is great that people are recognizing and celebrating what he did and the sacrifices that he made.

Captain who lost both his legs in the incident continues to get stronger every day.
