Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 7500 North Freeway about 11:40 p.m. on Thursday (April 27).
The identity of the female victim, 61, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Kopulos and Officer A. Holmes reported:
The victim was driving a blue Chevrolet Malibu northbound on the North Freeway when a black Toyota Camry, also traveling northbound, veered into her lane and struck the vehicle. The victim lost control of the Malibu, struck a concrete barrier and fell off the freeway onto the roadway below. Almost 20 motorcycle riders were at the McDonalds and witnessed the car falling and landing upside down on it’s roof. All of the riders ran to the scene and rolled the vehicle onto it’s wheels. The driver was deceased. Another witness who was waiting for the light to change saw sparks from above then the vehicle drop onto the intersection in front of her. The driver of the Camry, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
