A father and his 2 children were traveling northbound on I-45 just between SH 242 and FM 1488 when for unknown reasons the Lincoln Navigator left the roadway to the right and struck the guardrail. the vehicle continued behind the guardrail striking the concrete base of illumination light. The child who died was a right rear seat passenger which is where the concrete base impacted. The child was transported to Memorial Hermann Woodlands where the child was pronounced deceased. The driver and other passengers were transported in stable condition. Conroe Police were assisted by the Montgomery County District Attorneys Office Vehicular Crimes Unit. According to Andrew James, Chief of the Vehicular Crimes unit, no charges are being filed at this time. However, the investigation will continue and could take up to a month. The crash was reported at 7:50 am. All northbound lanes were reopened at 11:30 am.
