CHILD PREDATOR HEADS TO PRISON

42 year-old Kevin Alan Renton, pled guilty to three counts of Promotion of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography. Judge Lisa Michalk sentenced him to 15 years in prison for each count of Promotion of Child Pornography and the maximum penalty of 10 years for Possession of Child Pornography on April 22, 2014.

April 19, 2013, a woman called Conroe Police Department with claims that she had found videos of her daughters taking baths and using the restroom on Renton’s computer. After conducting a search, officer located 1,781 photographs of child pornography. Included was a video of a 4-year-old female victim whose genitals were exposed in the tape. Law enforcement identified three children in total who were videotaped by Renton.

Renton agreed to a plea bargain and will have to register as a sex offender for life. The formal sentencing was held on April 22, 2014.

The case was prosecuted by Cindy Pulcher, Chief Prosecutor for the Internet Crimes Against Children Division.  Pulcher credits Lead Investigator Greg Hall with the Conroe Police Department, Montgomery County Constable Office Pct 3, Homeland Security, and Children’s Safe Harbor for the thorough and professional manner in which this case was handled and investigated.

“Investigator Hall developed such overwhelming evidence that the defendant had no choice but to plea.”  Pulcher stated, “Child predators are unfortunately still present and active in our community. Our Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and partner agencies will continue to track them down and put them in prison where they belong.”
