According to witnesses, a female juvenile student was among those who exited said school bus. As the bus continued on their route, multiple persons approached the female juvenile student while in and operating two different motor vehicles.
It was at this point, these persons exited said vehicles and began to immediately assault the female juvenile student. As the victim fell to the ground, she was further assaulted, causing trauma about her head and face. The suspects then got back into said vehicles and fled the scene, leaving the victim behind, seriously injured, in the roadway.
Officers from the CISD Police Department and Deputies from the Liberty Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Liberty County EMS and Cleveland Fire Department assisted in the care and transport of the victim. She was subsequently transported by Life Flight to Herman Hospital, in the Texas Medical Center.
In the ensuing investigation, within one hour of the initial call, Officer Mosley and Sgt. Edwards of the CISD Police Department, were able to identify several suspects. One arrest was immediately made by these same Officers, near where this incident occurred. This particular suspect was transported and booked into the Liberty County Jail for Aggravated Assault – Serious Bodily Injury. Further arrests are possible, as this Criminal Investigation Continues.

After arriving at Hermann Hospital it was determined the student was in stable condition.
