On Thursday, December 29, 2016 at around 4:00 a.m. the Cleveland Police Department’s dispatch received a call from an employee of the local Whataburger Restaurant located at 808 South Hwy. 59 advising, “they were just robbed at gun point, and the two robbers fled on foot out of the south doors”.
According to the on-duty night manager, “two black males wearing mask, dressed in all black entered the restaurant with handguns drawn”. The subjects pointed their guns at the employees and demanded money; as they rushed behind the front counter. One of the male subjects was wearing a bandanna over his face. The other subject wore a skeleton- type mask covering his face. The subjects were able to grab an undisclosed amount of cash from the front cash registers, and office area before quickly fleeing the restaurant toward Mayo Street. The employees stated, they never observed any vehicles.
Cleveland Police are working with the Whataburger management team in hopes of gathering additional evidence, and possible surveillance video footage of the robbery.
