CONROE ESCAPEE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY JUST BEFORE DARK

Marks was being transported with 9 other prisoners by Texas Prisoner Transport Services. With Global operations in Nashville, their Texas Operation is based in Taylor, Texas. The company contracts with jails across the United States to transport prisoners who are wanted from one jurisdiction to another. The picked Marks up in Michigan and had several stops afterward with the last being in Louisiana. They were traveling through Conroe this morning when they stopped at the McDonalds at North Loop 336 at North Frazier to get meals for the prisoners. Law Enforcement stated it was under investigation how the escape happened and whether a guard was with them. According to a McDonald’s employee, two guards came in to get the food but was unsure if there was a third guard in the vehicle. It appeared later there were only two guards. Somehow he was reported to have made a slip using a food port opening on the truck but it is unknown how. Agencies from around the area joined in the search. Due to a 200-foot ceiling with fog, drones were deployed to search both from Montgomery County sheriffs office and Splendora Police Department. The search remained in the area of McDonald’s but during the day several false sightings came in for several areas and the search area expanded. It wasn’t until after 3 pm a security video was discovered at a business close by the showed Marks in legs chains and the clothing he left in walking behind the business at 7:19 am Sunday morning. Additional TDCJ Blood Hounds were brought in from Huntsville to search the area around the business. The dogs immediately picked up a trail leading to a home on Windswept. As the officers approached the owner had just arrived home and asked the officers to search his home before he went in. Just as they were about to the dog found Marks hiding in a trash can in the rear of the home. He was taken into custody. Marks, 44, who calls himself “Spiderman” when in the MMA cage, has been all over the country during his adult life, records show. In 2017, Marks’ mixed martial arts career ended and he started teaching it in Killeen. He met Jenna Scott and, after a rough two years, she asked a judge for protection saying, “Marks threatens and hurts me and told me he had gotten away with murder before,” records show. Scott and her close friend Michael Swearingin were last heard from on Jan. 4. Their bodies were found 12 days later in rural Oklahoma. Marks was arrested in Michigan just a couple days later with another girlfriend. Maya Renee Maxwell, 26, who was arrested on January 11 in Muskegon on a Bell County warrant charging tampering with evidence, admitted that “she was involved with leaving Swearingin’s vehicle in Austin in hopes to conceal it from law enforcement”, a warrant affidavit released Wednesday says. Maxwell was returned to Bell County late Tuesday night.
