CONROE MAN DIES IN TREE CUTTING ACCIDENT

Just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday Miguel Trejo-Almarez, age 27 of Conroe was cutting a large oak tree with his crew at a home under construction in the 16400 block of Live Oak Square in Porter Heights. He had cut several of the limbs and had started on another large limb but apparently changed his mind and went further up on that limb. As he cut some of the smaller limbs off the main one the large main limb snapped off. Wearing his safety harness but not tied to anything he fell to the pavement below.

A Porter fire captain who live a few doors down had seen him most of the day cutting and ran to help when he fell with the limb. It was evident he had a serious medical issue and he called for Air Medical.

Moments later MCHD units arrived along with MCSO and Porter Fire Department. At this point he was in traumatic arrest. The helicopter was cancelled as CPR cannot be performed in the small confines of the cabin of the helicopter.

Medics and firefighters worked on him for almost forty-minutes before it was determined they were not making any progress. He was pronounced at 2:37 p.m.

Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts ordered the victim transported to Dallas for autopsy by Sam Houston Funeral Directors.
