Just after 8:30am a Conroe Police Officer attempted to stop a white Kia Sorento at Bellshire and South Frazier in Conroe. The driver was known to have an open warrant. The driver fled along with his female passenger. The pursuit continued to Ed Kharbat Road off Loop 336 south and then continued south on Ed Kharbat. According to a witness the vehicle ran the red light at almost 80 mph, almost hitting her at Crighton Road and Ed Kharbat. It is at that point the road turns into Kidd Road. The chase continued south. A Caney Creek Battalion Chief was pulling out of the River Plantation Subdivision at Kidd and Stephen F. Austin. It was at that point the driver of the Kia swerved to miss the Chief causing the KIA to go out of control. The vehicle slammed into a tree causing very heavy rear end damage. The male and female were trapped in the vehicle. Once firefighters were able to extricate them, they were transported to Conroe Regional Hospital in stable condition. DPS is investigating the crash and additional charges are pending.
