On June 11, 2017, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 23900 block of Creek Ridge Drive in reference to a disturbance where gun shots were fired. Upon arrival a black male later identified as Derek Cooper was located with two gunshot wounds to his abdomen.
Constable Deputies conducted an investigation which revealed, the complainant was attempting to sell a cell phone to Cooper from a Craigslist ad. The victim met with Cooper and a juvenile at this location for the exchange of the phone for money, when suddenly the juvenile pointed a handgun at the complainant and demanded all his money. The victim did as requested. They then demanded all he had in his vehicle. The complainant returned to his vehicle, grabbed his own handgun and fired two rounds, striking Cooper twice in the abdomen. The juvenile fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by responding Constable Deputies.
