CONSTABLE TIM HOLIFIELD RESIGNS

Precinct 3 Constable Tim Holifield will end his sixteen years of service this Friday at noon. Monday morning Montgomery County Commissioners accepted his resignation as Constable.

Commissioners have appointed Ryan Gable to take over the helm. Gable won the Republican primary in May with 59 percent of the vote and has no opposition in November. Constable Holifield did not seek re-election.

Constable Holifield came under the lights with the raid of the Spindletop Refuge in Willis where 298 dogs were seized. Since that time he has spent almost everyday at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds working with Animal Farm, Red Rover and the United States Humane Society to find the owners of the dogs. Almost 100 have been returned to owners. But there is a long road ahead.

With his resignation comes his appointment to run the Montgomery County Animal Control and has been named by Commissioners as the Montgomery County Animal Cruelty Officer.

The job just just in time as Tuesday morning United States Humane Society and Red Rover both will be leaving Montgomery County for another operation outside of the state. Hoilifield will now be tasked with pairing dogs with rescues around the nation. However, before any dogs are transported the rescues will be fully investigated, making sure they are non-profit, free from complaints and free of any local investigations where they operate.
