COUNTY RECORDS SECOND FATAL ACCIDENT OF 2011

Just before 4p.m. this evening Conroe Police were dispatched to the 9200 block of Crighton Road for an accident involving a 2003 Ford F-150 and a tree. They arrived on the scene just behind MCHD who advised officers that the victim in the vehicle was trapped and had passed away.

As the road was closed Judge Trey Spikes responded to the scene and after almost thirty minutes Conroe Fire Department was able to free the 41-year-old female from the vehicle.

Judge Spikes ordered Metcalf Funeral Home to transport the victim to Dallas for an autopsy.

According to Conroe Police Department Lt. Jon Buckholtz, 41-year-old Lawanda Mancha of Conroe had been driving westbound on Crighton Road at a high rate of speed when she left the roadway on the north side of the road and then crossed the road striking a pine tree.

This is the first fatal accident for the city of Conroe this year  and the second in the county.
