crash closes 242 for over one hour

DPS is still trying to determine what caused the crash between a Toyota Camry and a commercial van just before 11 pm on Tuesday. Robert Allison of Conroe was heading north on FM 1485 in his company truck when he was struck in the intersection by Sharon Usher. The impact flipper Allison’s van on its side and sent it crashing into the TXDOT traffic control pole. He came within inches of striking the pole with his body as his van was ripped open.

Usher and her male passenger not yet identified were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Allison who was trapped in his vehicle for almost thirty minutes was taken to Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands in serious condition.

New Caney Firefighters arrived on the scene and immediately called for a second engine. Besides the entrapment of Allison, the rear of his truck which is protected by a cage and had several freon bottles leaking. Using several sets of tools firefighters were finally able to rescue him.

    Please make a correction, Sharon Usher was in the vehicle. Not Rhonda Usher. There are a lot of Usher’s in the community and the wrong name can make for a lot of confusion.
