CRASH WITH PURSUIT TO WOODLANDS CREATES A FATAL CRASH

Early Saturday morning an intoxicated female driver caused a 4 vehicle crash on I-45 under BW8. As Houston Police pulled up to the scene the female fled in her vehicle. Houston Polixce chased her north on I-45. A DPS helicopter assisted in the pursuit. As it neared the Harris Montgomery County line Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office also joined in. The female was finally takenm into custody at Woodlands Parkway and I-45. As this was happening HPD was working to clear the crash to reopen I-45. A short time after the freeway was reopened another crash took place. This crash was also involving 4 vehicles at West Mount Houston. Early reports were a possibly intoxicated male in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup fell asleep while waiting for the freeway traffic to move. Traffic was already back uop to speed when a Nissan Pathfinder slammed into the rear of the pickup pushing it to the right lane and disabling the Nissan.  The male driver of the Nissan got out of his vehicle to survey the damage. That is when another truck approached the scene and spotting the Nissan in the middle of the road, swerved to another lane. A driver and his girlfriend in the black Honda which was behind that truck was not able to take evasive action and slammed into the male driver and the Nissan. Seconds later a silver Honda slammed into the black one. The female in the black Honda was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The Nissan driver was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries. Police warn drivers if in a crash on the freeway to remain in your vehicle. This is the second fatal crash in the past several months were a driver was killd surveying the damage to a vehicle after a crash.
