Just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday several motorcycles were traveling north on I-69 between FM 1314 and Community Drive. One of the riders slammed into the rear of a vehicle causing that rider to be ejected to the shoulder of the freeway. The motorcycle continued sliding down the Interstate being struck by at least three other vehicles. One of the other motorcycle riders saw the crash in his mirrors and stopped, the others continued on. The driver that slammed into the vehicle was taken in critical condition to Kingwood Hospital by MCHD. The other motorcycle driver identified as James Walter Evans, 29, of 14376 Five Guinea in Conroe was arrested for driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying a handgun by a licensed CHL holder. One of the vehicles that struck the motorcycle had to be towed, another had minor damage, another had to be raised off the ground to remove part of the motorcycle that was under it. The northbound lanes were closed for just over an hour.
