On May 5, 2017 several officers were investigating a crash on I-45 at FM 830 in Panorama when Montgomery County Precinct 1 Deputy Brian Lully, who was off duty pulled up. As he approached the vehicle he observed the driver of the vehicle making furtive movements in the rear cargo area of the vehicle. Lully immediately approached and observed the suspect exit the vehicle with a loaded semi-automatic pistol which was pointed in the direction of the officers on the scene. Without regard for his life or own personal safety Lully was able to physically disarm the suspect and assist with the arrest. During the subsequent investigation it was found that the suspect was a convicted felon and documented member and enforcer for the Gangster Disciples street gang from Memphis, Tennessee. Lully’s immediate actions prevented a possible deadly encounter and potential injury to Lully’s fellow officers. For his actions Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable Cash along with Lully’s fellow deputies presented Lully with a Valor Award.
