A Garland (Texas) firefighter has a fractured skull after an accident on the job over the weekend. FF Bobby Brinkley was struck in the face by an SCBA air tank. Brinkley, who has been with the department about two years, is in intensive care at Parkland Hospital. On Saturday morning, Brinkley and other members of the Swift Water Rescue unit were called from station 8 to Rowlett Creek Preserve to rescue a dog that was trapped in the creek. The Firefighters were using an SCBA bottle to fill a water raft to rescue the dog. At some point, the tank became disengaged from the raft and the high pressure turned the the bottle into a projectile. The tank struck Brinkley in the face, fracturing his skull….he was taken by helicopter to Parkland.
