At 8:56p.m. Wednesday night River Plantation, Caney Creek and Needham Fire Departments were dispatched to a house fire at 14229 Crieghton Road near FM 1314.  When they arrived they found a double wide mobile home with heavy fire in the living room area. It was quickly knocked down but then discovered the fire had gone up into the attic area and through the roof.

The home suffered severe smoke damage and water damage.

According to the home owner who returned home late from work, he opened the front door and was met by flames on the wall. With the sudden influx of oxygen the fire rapidly spread preventing him from rescuing his Fox Terrier and computer from his desk.

As the fire was extinguished and firefighters were making a secondary search they found the little Fox Terrier in the headboard of a bed in a back room. He was hot but seemed uninjured. Firefighters gave him oxygen and water. He was doing well as firefighters departed the scene approximately 11:30p.m.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshals Office will investigate the fire.
