Just after 8am Tuesday morning Cut and Shoot Fire Department responded to a house fire on Firewood Drive in the Cut and Shoot area. They arrived to find a double wide mobile home totally involved. Firefighters requested assistance from North Montgomery and Caney Creek Fire Departments to extinguish the blaze. Four residents escaped the home with just the clothes on their backs. Two of their family pets perished in the blaze. Firefighters were also hampered in fighting the blaze by the fact the power was unable to be disconnected from the home immediately causing them to work around already burned charged live wires. A metal fence had been built in such a way that there was no access to the electric panel.
There were no injuries and the home was a total loss.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
