Just after 3 am Friday morning a call came through 911 saying a pickup was northbound in the southbound feeder of Interstate 45 near Outback. Shenandoah officers began looking for the vehicle immediately. Within minutes a second call came in from a wrecker driver stating it was too late, the vehicle entered the wrong way on I-45 and struck a car head on.
MCHD responded to the scene and determined two people in the vehicle hit were deceased. The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital.
I-45 WILL BE CLOSED SOUTHBOUND AT FM 1488. TRAFFIC IS ALREADY BUILDING. IT IS SUGGESTED TO USE FM1485 OR FM1314 TO US59 AND CONTINUE SOUTH. IF YOU MUST USE 45 TRAVEL 1488 TO SH242 THEN EAST ON 242 BUT EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS IN THE INTERSECTION AT SH242,
INVESTIGATORS FEEL IT COULD BE AT LEAST 8 TO 9 AM BEFORE THE SCENE IS CLEAR AND THE FREEWAY IS OPEN.
PHOTOS WILL BE POSTED LATER
