DPS: Speeding teen caused major accident

A major accident on SH242 eastbound at Grey Oaks closed that road for seven hours early Tuesday morning. Taylor Ramirez, 19, of Conroe was eastbound at a high rate of speed in a Nissan Titan pickup, when he struck the left rear of a Dodge pickup also traveling east.

The Dodge truck was hit so hard that the rear axle was split in two and the bed was pushed up to the passenger compartment. That driver suffered injuries and was transported to Woodlands Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The Nissan truck also flipped ejecting the passenger who has yet to be identified. The passenger was transported to the Texas Medical Center by MCHD in very critical condition with a head injury.

The driver of the Nissan, Taylor Ramirez, was taken to Hermann Woodlands in stable condition and was later released and taken into custody by DPS and transported to the Montgomery County jail charged with Intoxicated Assault.

DPS along with the help of Needham Road Fire Department closed the eastbound lanes from the time of the accident until just after 7am as the crash was investigated. Debris was scattered over 700 feet along with skid marks and other evidence.

The temperatures during this time hovered in the mid-twenties.
