DRIVER FLIPS HUMMER-CRITICALLY INJURED

12:30am-A 22-year-old male who had just left a friends after watching the fight was westbound on Townsend Road following a female friend. As he rounded the curve just east of US 59 he ran off the edge of the road into the ditch. Overcorrecting the 2006 Hummer H2 flipped several times.

The female friend who was in front of him saw the headlights flipping in her mirror and turned around and went back. At first unable to locate the vehicle she found it approximately fifty feet to the north of Townsend Road.

She then did something should never be done especially after rolling the vehicle multiple times. She pulled the 230 pound male out of the vehicle onto the ground.

Humble Fire Department, Police and EMS responded to the scene and determined his injuries required Life Flight to Hermann Hospital in Houston.

The male was critical with a possible head injury but was talking.

If you come up on an accident scene, unless the vehicle is on fire, NEVER move a victim in the vehicle no matter what. Hidden injuries to the cervical area could be made more extensive causing paralysis or death. Many people mistake a vehicle being on fire due to antifreeze leaking or the powders and and gasses expelled from the air bag deployment.
