DROWNING IN LAKE CONROE

Just after 9 am Juan Serrano, 40, of Houston along with their family went got to the dead-end of Stubblefield Lake Road to go fishing.

Thirty minutes later emergency crews were en route to recover his body from Lake Conroe.

Serrano’s sister accidentally waded over a sinkhole and her husband was forced to help her back to shore, Cade said. By the time they returned to shore, the man realized that Serrano was missing and could not find him after going back to look for him.

Thirty minutes later emergency crews were en route to recover his body from Lake Conroe.

Calls started coming into the 911 call center just before 9:30 am with the report of Serrano being approximately one hundred yards into the water and had gone under. Lake Conroe Fire Department was the first on the scene with their rescue boat and spotted the victim in about 3 feet of water. They pulled him from the water and started CPR. Precinct 1 Lake Patrol arrived as did MCHD. Crews worked on the victim for almost forty-five minutes. They were unable to revive him. He was estimated under the water for at least twenty minutes.

Lt. Cade with the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lake Patrol said the water he was in was only 3 feet but there were drop-offs. He said it was also learned that Serrano had a medical condition.

Additional divers were called in to do an evidentiary dive to rule out any foul play. After almost four hours they confirmed nothing was found.

Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport Serrano to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for an autopsy.

Lt. Cade would like to thank everyone involved in the operation.
