DROWNING ON LAKE CONROE

About 530pm 911 operators took a call at Lake Conroe. A female reported a man had gone down over 5-minutes ago and had not resurfaced at the FM 830 boat ramp. North Montgomery County Fire Boat 94 along with Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lake Patrol responded. Within minutes after arriving the fire boat spotted what appeared to be the victim on sonar. Divers were put in the water. After just over an hour they located the body of a Hispanic male. According to witnesses, the male was with friends and jumped off the end of the dock. According to Lt. Cade with the Precinct 1 Lake Patrol, the water is about six-feet at that location. He came up for just a moment and then went back down. Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack has been notified. The 43-year-old Hispanic male is reported to be a Conroe native. Judge Mack has ordered an autopsy to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved and what may have caused the drowning. Cade warns that Lake Conroe is what is considered a Black Lake, you cannot see bottom let alone a foot into the water. He said someone should never jump or dive of a pier without knowing what is below.
