At 6 am Wednesday morning a Splendora Police Officer was southbound on I-69 at Fostoria when a black Chevrolet pickup approached him at 117mph. HE attempted to stop the vehicle which then sped up. Multiple units set up on I-69 waiting for the vehicle to approach. Traffic was quite heavy. As the vehicle approached Roman Forest the driver jumped the ditch and ran through the red light at the intersection. He then ran across the ditch again, make a left turn, and started traveling north in the Southbound lanes with traffic coming at him. When the driver got to Lucille he once again crossed the ditch, went a short distance into the neighborhood when he drove into a pasture. With the area sealed off multiple agencies, Precinct 4, Roman Forest, MCSO, and Splendora Officers began searching. When they got onto the property of Yellow Brick Nursery they found the truck backed into a new greenhouse, destroying it. The driver was not with the vehicle. After over an hour of the owner of the greenhouse and the Saddle Creek Towing driver, they were able to partially dismantle part of the greenhouse and get the truck out. The truck was believed to have been stolen from Auto Nation in Spring on Saturday.
