The East Texas Dream Center, located at 301 South, now occupies the old Conroe Hospital building. The Dream Center had to meet some conditions to use the building, one of which being that a fire sprinkler system be installed. Last Thursday, that sprinkler system came in handy.
At approximately 4 p.m., Conroe Fire Department responded to an automatic alarm. They arrived to heavy smoke in the rear of the building.
The fire broke out in a storage room and was fortunately extinguished by the sprinkler system. There were no injuries and damage was minimal, but firefighters worked to clear smoke out of the structure.
Last year, the Dream Center fed over 600 people and plans to accomplish that goal again on November 27, 2014.
